Our ascent of Chulu West commences from base camp in a small valley north of Manang, situated off the main trail to the Thorong-La. To get to the base camp we walk above Manang to a yak herder’s hut, from where we can see the south face of Chulu Central. Beyond the hut we follow yak pastures, before trekking up to a ridge that leads to the hidden valley and camp.
