The peaks of Chulu East and West form an integral part of the Manang Himal, which is included in turn in the larger Damodar Himal.
First climbed by a German expedition in 1955, via the north-eastern ridge, Chulu-East is situated south-east of its sister peak Chulu West, and is comparatively smaller.
