Day Itinerary Details

Day 01: Kathmandu
Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu we are met and assisted by our representative and transported to your hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Breakfast
We begin our sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley in Kathmandu Durbar Square, the palace of the Malla and then the Shah kings of Nepal. Places of interest here include the Kasthamandap, a medieval rest house said to give Kathmandu its name, which was made by a single tree; and Kumari House abode of the virgin goddess. From here we visit Swoyambhunath stupa, on the top of a hill overlooking Kathmandu Valley. After lunch, we visit our third city of the Kathmandu Valley, Patan, which is famous for its art and crafts. Tour highlights are the Shikhara-style Krishna temples; Patan Durbar with the royal baths; and Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, a Buddhist monastery. From here we visit the Tibetan Cultural Center first founded by the Tibetan refugees of the late fifties and now an exhibition-cum-shopping complex of carpets, jewellery and many other interesting souvenirs. Then we visit the most religious place for Hindus, the Pashupatinath Temple, which lies near the banks of the Bagmati River and is the cremation area for the dead. Boudhanath stupa is possibly the biggest stupa in the world and the location of the Tibetan School of Buddhism. We then drive to Bhaktapur, the best preserved of all the medieval cities in the Kathmandu Valley. Our tour highlights include the Palace of 55 Windows, the Golden Gate and Nyatapole, a five-storied temple.

Day 03: Kathmandu – Pokhara
After an early morning breakfast we leave our hotel for Pokhara. This journey through mountain terrain takes around 5 to 6 hours. We arrived in Pokhara and check into our hotel.

Day 04: Pokhara
We leave for important religious and historic sites such as the Bindabasini temple, Devil’s Gorge, Gupteswor Mahadev Cave, Seti Gorge, Museum and the marketplace. After lunch we will do an hour boat ride on Lake Fewa with a visit to the Barahi Temple.

Day 05: Pokhara – Lumbini
We have a morning drive to Lumbini. It will take around 4 to 5 hours to reach our hotel in Lumbini.

Day 06: Lumbini – Tilaurakot – Lumbini
We take to an excursion to Tilaurakot (27 km) to the west, the ancient capital of Kapilvastu and the kingdom of the Shakya dynasty in which family Lord Buddha was born. The ruins of the palace is found here, which clearly shows the gate through which Lord Buddha walked out of his palace renouncing all worldly possessions in the quest for NIRVANA. We return to Lumbini after the day excursion and spend the night at our hotel in Lumbini.

Day 07: Lumbini – Chitwan
We drive to the Royal Chitwan National Park, our destination for wildlife viewing. We arrive at our jungle resort and begin our safari activities almost immediately with a briefing, elephant ride, jungle walks, canoe ride in pursuit of a myriad of flora and fauna including the one-horned Indian rhinoceros and the Royal Bengal Tiger. In the evening we have local cultural entertainment.

Day 08: Chitwan
We continue on our wildlife pursuits with the assistance of qualified naturalists.

Day 09: Chitwan – Kathmandu
After breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu with a journey of 5 to 6 hours. We will arrive in Kathmandu at around 15:00 hours and check into the hotel. In the evening, we have a cultural evening with a traditional Nepalese dinner.
