Muktinath – The Salvation Land
It is believed that all miseries / sorrows are relieved once you visit this temple (Mukti=Nirvana, Nath=God). The main shrine is a pagoda shaped temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Set into the wall around it are 108 waterspouts from which pour holy water. For Tibetan Buddhists, Muktinath, they called Chumig Gyatsa (Hundreds Waters) is a place of Dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers. It is of great importance for Buddhists that Chumig Gyatsa is one of the 24 Tantric places. For Hindus, beside the natural fire representing Brahma and the holy waters, the central meaning of the Muktinath area is the veneration of the god Vishnu in the form of ammonites (shilas) called Salagrama-Shilas. There are many stories that tell of Vishnu turning into stone and all of them are closely connected to the holy Kali Gandaki River. This river, also known as the Salagrami, is a few hours walk from Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa. Maktinath’s high mountain location and headwaters, as well as the presence of certain... (more...)

Parchamo, situated south of the Tashilaptsa Pass, has a north-by-northwest ridge, rising from the crevassed glacier that straddles the Tashi Lapcha. The face of this ridge forms a uniform slope broken by crevasses that rise from the rocky lower buttresses above the Drolambau Glaciers in the west. Rolwaling Valley is the main access route to Parchamo, with the only other alternative from the Khumbu side via Namche Bazar and Thame. Parchamo was first climbed in 1955. Itinerary: Day 01 : Kathmandu to... (more...)
Lobuche consists of two summits, East and West (6143 m), connected by a continuous ridge, but with a marked gap and a considerable distance between them. The East is regarded as a trekking peak, whereas Lobuche West is recognised as a full Expedition peak. Lobuche, an attractive mountain that was first summited in 1984, has various existing routes, as well as offering the potential for new ones. The dark triangle of its rocky east face rises over the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier to a spectacular... (more...)
Although Pokalde Peak is comparatively smaller than the others, it still rewards climbers with excellent views. Its appearance is of a crenellated rocky ridge, dominated by the vast bulk of Nuptse. The mountain has a small hanging glacier, best reached along the ridge rising from Kongma La on its northern side. Itinerary: Day 01 : Fly, Kathmandu to Lukla (2835 m) then start trek to Phakding (2652 m). Camp at Phakding Day 02 : Phakding / Namche Bazaar (3446 m) Day 03 : Rest at Namche bazaar Day 04... Situated in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, Tharpu Chuli acts as a central divider between the semi-circles of peaks enclosing the sanctuary. An attractive mountain, nicknamed ‘Tent Peak’ by Jimmy Roberts in 1956, Tharpa Chuli, part of the ridge-line south of the glacier dome, gives spectacular views of the Annapurnas, as well as being an interesting climb. Itinerary: Day 01 : Arrival Kathmandu – transported to hotel – tour briefing Day 02 : A full-day sightseeing within... (more...)

Together with Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli forms a massive south-facing wall, while its eastern face overlooks the Modi Khola, guarding the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary. Though not technically difficult to climb, the mountain is vulnerable to rock-falls – and finding the route can therefore be a problem. Hiun Chuli has received little attention from mountaineers and is rarely climbed, despite the fact that it offers major new route potentials. Itinerary: Day 01 : Arrival Kathmandu –... (more...)
Ramdung Peak is situated in ‘Yeti’ country, south of Na in the upper Rolwaling region, and offers a panoramic view of mountain ranges from Langtang to Everest, as well as a splendid view of Gauri Shankar and Menlungtse. Ramdung gives access to upper Rolwaling from the south via Khare Khola. The normal route to this peak, through the glaciers of its north-east flank, is fairly straightforward. Itinerary: Day 01 : Arrival Kathmandu – transported to hotel – tour briefing Day... (more...)
Our ascent of Chulu West commences from base camp in a small valley north of Manang, situated off the main trail to the Thorong-La. Beyond the hut we follow yak pastures, before trekking up to a ridge that leads to the hidden valley and camp. Even though this is a difficult mountain to climb, it has also become among the most popular peaks, largely because of the spectacular view of the mountains in or near Tibet. It is unclear who was the first to summit Naya Kanga. Itinerary: Day 01 : Arrival Kathmandu – transported to hotel – tour briefing Day 02 : Free time in Kathmandu Day... (more...)

A peak that lends itself to easier climbing, Yala has the twin advantages of amazing views that can be enjoyed by those with no previous mountaineering experience. Situated just to the north of Kathmandu in the beautiful Langtang Valley, Yala summit looks out over the Tibetan Himalayas, including Shisapangma, the only 8000 m peak situated entirely in Tibet. From Kathmandu we drive to Dhunche or Syabrubesi, then trek up the valley for three days. We explore the Langshisa glacier to help us acclimatise,... (more...)
Dhampus, in the Dhaluagiri range, is becoming one of the most popular peaks in the area. Although it is not classified as a technical peak, you may need to be properly acclimatised before you begin your ascent. For this purpose, we recommend first trekking to the Thorang Pass (5416 m). From Pokhara you may take a flight to Jomsom (2250 m) and make a side trip for accimatisation purposes. Alternatively you can trek from Nayapul all the way to Tukche, via the Ghorepani Poon Hill area. Itinerary: Day... (more...)
This is the most popular trekking peak in Nepal and although it is also the highest, it is one of the easiest, too, being considered a “walk up” in good weather and if the snow conditions are not too soft. Those who undertake this trek do need to be conversant with the use of an ice-axe and crampons, as well as being fit, but instruction in their use will be given in Kathmandu, and also at the base camp near Mera La, if required. Summitting Mera is a highly rewarding experience, providing... (more...)
This is something of an explorer’s peak, which offers climbers great challenges because of the hanging glacier that guards its western flank. Additionally the western end of the ridge is protected by huge rock slabs, which add to the difficulty level of the climb. Pisang Peak is situated in the Marsyangdi Valley part of the Annapurna Region and was first summitted by a German expedition in 1955. Although this is a non-technical peak, its steepness and the other complicating factors mean that... (more...)
